Earthquake in Nepal in 2072

Earthquake in Nepal in 2072

According to geologists and seismologist, deep inside the earth, there are seven major plates which are called tectonic plates. The inner heat of the earth causes these plate moves slowly. Sometimes these plates get stuck at their edges due to friction that results an earthquake releasing energy in waves that travels through the earth's crust and cause shaking. This is one of natural processes but due to deaths and destructions, people on earth take it as a great havoc where there are earthquakes of higher magnitudes. These processes have been going on the earth since time immemorial. The quakes of higher than 6 magnitudes cause deaths and destruction. The greatest quake of 9.5 magnitudes was felt in Chilly. There are numbers of major and minor quakes around the world everyday. The great quakes go off rarely but are deadly one so people scare of them a lot. On 25th April 2015 (12 of Baisakh 2072) at 11:55 AM, Nepal was hit by an earthquake of 7.8 magnitudes. The quake was due to the friction between Indian Plate and Tibetan Plate. The quake is still leaving off several major and minor aftershocks following the greatest aftershock of 6.7 magnitudes on 12 May 2015. The Gorkha earthquake killed 8800 people and injured more than 21000 people. The epicenter was at Barpak of Gorkha district and the hypocenter was at a depth of 8.2 KM. The shake remained till 55 seconds with horizontal and vertical movements. It was the worst strike to Nepal since 1934 (1990 BS) Nepal-Bihar (India) earthquake. The earthquake triggered avalanches on the Mount Everest and Langtan valley where 250 people lost. Thousands of people became homeless. Century old buildings, UNESCO heritage sites, several temples and Durbar Squares were fully and partly destroyed. The identity of Nepal, the Bhimsen tower (Dharahara) was also collapsed along with killing hundreds of people. Roads, schools, government offices, hospitals and many structures were partly and fully damaged. In comparison to the magnitudes of the quake the human casualties is less it because the quake was on midday when all people were outside the home and it was on Sunday when almost all offices and schools were off. 90% of Nepalese Armies were deployed to panic stricken area in the aftermath of the earthquake under Operation. Several volunteers within and out of countries were sent for rescue operation. One America chopper was crashed during rescue operation. Most of people left their home and sheltered in tents setup in open areas for more than one month. The recurring aftershocks, rain, storm triggered the fear in people who survived in the earthquake. Not only this, the post earthquake environment disturbed rescue operation. Impassable roads, heaps of debris, destroyed communication & electricity infrastructure; food crisis and so on posed substantial challenges to rescue operation and daily life of people. Almost all the houses were vacant as people were grouped in open area. Several people lost their lives due to property loss and mental torture. Children were badly disturbed psychologically and their education was disturbed because of cracks and damages in school buildings. Sympathies and help from international communities were praiseworthy however there was not proper management of relief fund. Government of Nepal (GoN) appealed to international communities to raise fund for rebuilding the nation. Despite the great efforts of GoN, it failed to manage post earthquake situation and relief fund. The victims didn't get proper rescue and relief materials for several days. The remote areas were badly affected due to lack of treatment and food supply. Some area felt death of government however GoN had deployed officials to record and distribute relief materials. Opportunists made a good money during that time as they sold relief materials in black market.
